Unlimited flexibility – packaging types, package size and labels

The increase in demand for bundling/grouping and labeling for flexible packaging like bags created a new product at Emkon: the EMKON ECO PACK.

In addition to our high-performance labeler EMKON MULTIPACK PLUS and the EMKON MULTIPACK, we added the new EMKON ECO PACK to the multipack family. The ECO PACK is grouping stand-up pouches, three-side-sealed or four-side-sealed pouches into individual groups and combines them with a self-adhesive label to a multipack.

Sustainability is a topic more important than ever – and in accordance with the EMKON Multipack family not only an empty word: the new EMKON ECO PACK offers sustainable packaging of paper bags or labels including degradable adhesives.

The machine features a very small footprint and is available with rollers for optimal positioning and as standalone unit with a manual infeed.

The infeed holds up to 80 products, erects them with a pocket chain and feeds them in groups of two or five in the labelers attached on the sides. A third labeler at the discharge offers the capability to redact the bar codes on the individual product and attaches a label with the new bar code. The special feature of this machine is to combine several bags, filled with bulk product, safely into a multipack package. This design was created with a “breathing” conveyor belt. The unit opens, holds the product, creates an area for the label to be attached, and releases the product at the discharge.

This machine is highly flexible and adjusts three-dimensionally to different product sizes (e. g. 50x40x170mm or 150x40x240mm). The format database can run up to 100 recipes (products). Format changes are very simple, and the compact design of the machine offers great accessibility. Required size parts are built as plug-in parts with the 3D-printer and the product transport is both operator friendly and electronically adjustable. Easy reproducibility of settings is guaranteed. Two integrated control units that ensure operational access from all sides of the machine complete the stainless-steel design.

The machine can be easily adjusted from bag processing to boxes or flat packages like chocolate bars.

Initial customer feedback complemented the combination of flexibility and small footprint. One machine offers the opportunity to react to market changes, product requirements and marketing activities. Emkon closed a market gap in the medium performance segment with its new machine.
